Snowboard Robot
Добавлен 11 янв 2013
I'm Lachy, here I have some reviews of snowboards that I have ridden.
Salomon Highlander Bindings Review
The Highlanders are stiffer flexing, all mountain bindings. I am always a fan of more responsive bindings, so these are a good match for me.
More info: bit.ly/48aF0wq
I rode these on a variety of different boards, and to me they rode well on everything. They felt safe, I was never worried I was going to break a ratchet of have to do an emergency fix.
Their one difference from other brands is they have a soft heelcup, though in reality when everything is tight I don't know how much that is really adding to anything.

How to Shifty Backside 180 on a snowboard #shorts

Combining a frontside shifty with a backside 180 is a pretty easy way to make a simple trick look a bit better. The timing is a bit trickier, but a little practice is all it takes.

Capita Spring Break Powder Twin Snowboard Review
Great review! How does it compare to the never summer harpoon? Main differences? Or advantages? I’m tossing up between these two
I’m considering this in the 164 I have a jones ultra mind expander which needs to be edged and ridden hard, this looks like a great board but softer than my jones 158❤
I haven't ridden the Ultra Mind Expander so I can't compare directly, but the tail of the Cafe Racer is pretty stiff, so it might even be a step up from the Jones
Is there a way to get this review in English?….
Awesome review. What camera and set up are you using for your reviews?
Thanks! Back then the 360 shots on the pole are with the insta 360 one x, now the majority are done with a gopro 9
Sick review! Do you still ride these on the Dancehaul? Also do you still have the 47 or have you upped to the 52?
Thanks! I sold the Dancehaul a couple of years ago now to buy the Ride Zero, but I didn't actually ever ride the Highlanders on it. The Dancehaul pro is pretty high on my list to try this season.
@@SnowboardRobot ah fair enough! Will you be looking to try the same size as you did in the regular dancehaul with the pro being a stiffer model?
Респект!!!
Это КОСМОС. 100 000 лайков. Парни Вам респект!
How was the fit and finish? The main thing I've heard against Season is manufacturing sloppiness.
I didn't notice anything major that made it look cheap or not finished nicely, though it also was a demo board (so no one is particularly nice/gentle to them).
I’m curious if you have ever tried the Union ultra bindings ? And if so how would you compare them to your cartel x’s? Thanks heaps, love the content
Sorry for the late reply. I realised I have never written a review on them, but I have ridden the Ultra on a few boards now. I like them a little bit more than my Stratas, even though they aren't technically much different at all. They have a good medium flex, nice ratchets and low profile straps, and pretty damp overall. They are softer and more playful overall than the Cartel X, I found that the close equivalent to Cartel x from Union was the Atlas.
150+ days and mine are now too soft, apart from the flex, the boot is still perfect. do not advise the 2024 Infuse, vans tweaked the model and now the boa jams after a couple of days riding and they now don't fit me very well and give ankle pinch, same for the Verse.
Did the boa change in the new version? I haven't seen the new ones in person
@@SnowboardRobot looks very similar but they seem to be having lots of problems with their boa systems. The cable jams in the runner and then damages the cable and jams up the boa. I have found some older 2023 Verse boots on sale which seem ok and don’t give any ankle pinch. The new Verse pinched my ankles in the shop straight away, I believe it’s the front tongue of the boot causing the problem. Hopefully the 2025 infuse have been rectified
@@SnowboardRobot I’m talking about the Green and black ones so possibly 2024
Korua OTTO or Season NEXUS ???
Nexus, better shape and lighter overall
Would love to see the kind of jackets you like to wear or think are good
i think you were right, it did become a very popular board.
Is this good for beginner? Also where is that snow location.. beautiful
Pretty much a terrible board for a beginner, almost anything else would be more fun for someone starting out. This was at Hotham in Australia, in pretty late season spring conditions.
How similarly does this ride to the Endeavor Scout, if you’ve ridden that too? Seem comparable in regards to shape, profile, flex - curious on opinions whether there’s a clear winner between the two
What boot size
9.5
Man, I’m similar spec to you but 5 10”, and I was debating between a 152 and a 156. Glad I watched this. I’ll most definitely go 156.
First of all, the 2023 Transition Finder+ is a completely different snowboard than the 2022 Tranny Finder+ that the rider is on in the video. Very different shape, but clearly no research was done. Know your shit if you’re going to post tagged videos.
Good review, I wonder how this differs from the standard though
How would you compare them to the malavita?
A little stiffer, and also with better standard ratchets than the double take ones on the Malavita. (I owned and rode Malavitas for a season or two).
I am 5'7 170 pounds with 10 Vans Boots. I ride the 154 with Union Strata and it is Perfect!!
Is it good all mountain freestyle board? I already have Capita Quiver Killer (older traditional stiffer camber) and Horrorscope (flexy rocker) and looking for sth in between. I'd like to ride a little bit faster on edges and still can do some freestyle. Concidering this and Capita Merc (Mega Merc maybe). I would be grateful for your response
The regular Capita Mercury would be the much better option than this, or if you want it to be extra light/fast then the Mega Merc. Technically they seem pretty similar in specs, but the ride was quite different between the Mercury and Assassin Pro
@@SnowboardRobot Thank you for the answer. I am still in before purchase, and since now the sale period is going on, i will probably decide to buy new board soon. In the meantime, I found a model with similar specs that interested me - Bataleon Goliath +. Have you had the opportunity to test this board?
@@Shczawik I haven't, it in general the bataleons have a looser overall feel, because of the base shaping. Not a bad thing, just something to get used to
Great channel. How would you compare the Aeronaut to the Capita Super DOA for all mountain resort riding
If you don't care about riding lots of switch, then the Shape of the Aeronaut is going to be way better. Smoother turns, better overall. If you do like to ride a ton of switch, or love the park then the twin Super DOA would be fine, but both boards are very light and fast.
How does it compare to Capita Mercury? base, grip, response on ice, track and off-piste? Above all, I like to go down quickly and not suffer from the soles. Some trick but little
It is heavier, and noticeably wider than the Mercury, and has a bit more support in the tail. The Mercury is a solid all round choice, but a pretty plain/boring shape. If you want to carve, have better float in powder then go for the Korua.
How does it compare to Korua Otto? Sole, grip, response on ice, track and off-piste? Above all, I like to go down quickly and not suffer from the soles. Some trick but little
How are they with your Cafe Racer?
I never ended up riding that combination together
Bought the 23/24 version of the Jones Frontier, just had my first few days on it and I am in love! We had almost half a meter of fresh powder Sunday/Monday in the Alps and I had more fun snowboarding than ever before. Now it’s getting warmer every day, conditions are challenging (bumpy and slushy on the groomers, a bit frosty on what was nice powder just a few days ago) but the board doesn’t even care and cuts through everything like butter… I came from an old Burton board and the difference feels like switching from a hard tail Mountainbike to full suspension. Season is over soon, I have only a week or so left but I can’t wait to ride this board daily next winter!
Couldn't find the full review on your channel.

After two seasons of riding, the cable (which holds the heel arch) broke! The warranty was denied. Bindings are more than three years old from the production date. There is no trust in these bindings. The technology where the cable is used is not reliable! Be careful! Choose any other bindings but not Salomon. This technology is used in models: Salomon Hologram, Salomon Highlander, Salomon District. I wish you all safe riding! God bless you that this does not happen to you on the mountain slopes!
Oh that sucks, and surprises me it was denied. I worked in shops that used shadowfit bindings as the high performance rentals (so taking quite a lot of abuse), we didn't run into any issues luckily.
What difference between mega death?
Mega Death has a very fast base, same shape and profile as the BSOD, but no fiberglass, just carbon so it is very light/expensive.
How does the jones mountain twin compare with Yes the Greats or the Protosynthesis? Undecided between these three and have only been able to ride the mountain twin and really enjoyed it but the reviews of the greats is ace and fits what I like in a board
shoes 42, my height is 165 cm and my weight is 74. I'm thinking of buying a Ride Superpig board 151 cm. We do 70% pow (off piste), 30% track, 0% park driving. Is the 151 cm suitable?
I've tried CR and it's a magnificent board, even freecarver 9000 didn’t make that impression on me. but my size is sold out... is there something similar in Nitro snowboards in dampness, carvability or just have similar ride?
hello, I heard you bought 155cm board, so how tall are you? Im goona buy this board, so I want to know.
I am 6 foot tall, though I could also have probably ridden the 158 as a second option if I needed to
With this being full camber did you find it catchy at all?
Nah it isn't super catchy, no more than the Aeronaut
Hey dude, loving these reviews. Recently got the aeronaut partly down to your review. Absolutely live it, super quick, turns great and loads of pop! looking to add a more playful board to the quiver next season and wanting something that is easier to mess around and butter on but still has good pop and carves decently. Considering this and the yes greats, maybe the jackpot?... How would you sum up the differences between those three? Any others I should consider?? Cheers bro!
Thanks! Yeah the Jackpot and Greats would be good, all three do seem pretty light overall. They are pretty interchangable, you could go for the Jackpot if you want something more standard/classic, or the Greats if you want the extra width which will probably help with the carving. As another option, the Huck Knife ruclips.net/video/WZI7hrOW8NQ/видео.html will do all that super well too. If you want super fun and easy to butter, the Bataleon Wallie ruclips.net/video/Pr8X1-pAcYY/видео.html . At least with the Wallie there is zero crossover with the boards, it is definitely a lot more playful. Won't carve as well as the others, but it is still possible.
Im between beginer and intermidiate, should i consider this board?
You definitely could. It will have a bit of a learning curve as you get used to the flex and the full camber profile, but after that you will be able to push your riding a long way, you won't grow out of it.
Whats better at high speeds this or proto synthesis? Only ridden traditional camber board. Stuck on decision between the 2. Im a heavier rider and need a wide.
I found both to be quite similar in terms of stability really, it was only the edge hold of the Easy Rider that was a step up. I would also have a look at the Cougar, that has the triple camber but in a camber overall profile, might be a good option for you if you aren't 100% on going for a rocker dominant hybrid.
Thanks for the review. I just picked up a 2023 in 156. They say to size down a bit but your video convinced me to keep mine as is (I normally ride a Proto in a 155) as I've been feeling I need a longer board for my weight. Do you think it'll be an issue?
Nah you will be fine, this one I almost sized up, so there won't be any issues if you kept it at your regular length.
Fantastic review man - been watching your videos for some years now and must have seen this one 10 times! I'm a firmly intermediate rider, stick almost exclusively to groomers, love riding fast and carving trenches but not into park much bar the odd kicker. Really considering the Mercury but just wondered how forgiving it is at low speed, and how agile it feels? I'd be coming from a Never Summer Ripsaw, which I enjoy riding at pace but is a chore at low speed or when navigating rutted out terrain with care. How would the Merc compare? Big thanks, man!
I loved my dc ply which had that very similar, classic camber profile. Just ordered this thing and am super excited to have it as my daily
How is jibbing on the board?
Not sure if you have tried the Rome Party Mod but how do you think it compares to this Ride Zero? For a midwest rider, decent rider (15 years riding) 9.5 boots 175lbs mainly hitting 40% rails, 20% jumps, 40% bombing down the hill, or finding trees to ride through and rock drops. Any thoughts on which might be a better fit? Also, which one you think has more pop?
Would you say Superpig or Warpig for Nozawa onsen freestyle riding with 25% park riding, jibs and jumps
Probably the Warpig, unless you really like stiff cambered boards in general. Although the Superpig is going to be more stable on jumps, it will be way less forgiving and much more work for jibbing.
What size you reckon for 180lbs x 9 boot x 6’0
159 if you are going to use it for all mountain/powder, or 156 if you want it a bit more playful
Hey! Cool review! How do you think 159 is a good choice? I'm 6.0 185 ibs and 10.5 shoe size. Thanks!
Yep, the 159 will be spot on
I’m a little confused between choosing pin tonic and hovercraft 2.0, which one has better performance in powder🤔
Pin tonic if you want big wide, surfy and floaty turns. I haven't been on the new hovercraft, but the old one was great if you just want float and the ability to smash through everything in a straight line. It doesn't turn as nicely as the korua though.
Nice flow thru the bump at 2:49.
How is it different than the mercury
More directional shape, more camber and overall feels lighter to me
I love the Harpoon. Such a fun board. 🏂 😊
